Title: Installing a transducer shield
Post by: tennwalkinghorse on July 20, 2010, 09:44:12 PM
I just ordered a 898c SI I was planing to mount the transducer on the trolling motor. I ordered one of the Transducer shield & savers to protect the transducer. Can this be used with SI type transducers or will it cause interference? The transducer shield & saver was model number SSC - 3.
Thanks for your input,
Mike

I personally do not think a shield will work on the S I ducers.

Someone will follow my post with a answer you can use.

Good Luck.

The Transducer Shield and Saver DOES work with the SI Transdcuers.  But, the one you need would be the  TM-HDSI. (http://www.transducershieldandsaver.com/home/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=11&category_id=5&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=55)

The SSC-3 (http://www.transducershieldandsaver.com/home/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=3&category_id=5&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=55) is for a standard Humminbird 2d transducer and will not work with the HB SI Transducers.

Right transducer shield came on Saturday installation went great man is that a SOLID mount. Much better then the OEM mount. Sorry Humminbird just calling it like I see it. Now need time to play with it on the water. Thanks all for the back up .

No apology needed.
I’ve seen that mount first hand and it is ROCK SOLID!
