Title: pls get me started
Post by: jtd123 on July 15, 2010, 08:35:48 PM
i just bought a century 2202 bay and it came with a 997csi.  it has 2 transducers? a round shoot thru the hull and a flat transom mount. i am assuming one is for side imaging and the other down? is that correct? can i run both at same time on split screen?

jtd123,

Welcome to the forum.  Yes, the flat one on the transom is for Side Imaging.  If there is a switch, you will have SI and depth (2d) from the transom and will be able to switch to the in-hull for better 2d depth reading at high speeds.

Most likely, you have an SIDB Y cable installed that will take the SI from the transom transducer and the 2d depth from the in-hull.  This is the prefered method so you dont have to worry about switching between the two.

You will be able to show them side by side with Y cable.

What else can we help with to get you started?

Robert

If you don't have a switch then you have the Y cable.  You can look on the back of the unit where the cable collector is and see if you see two transdcuer cables coming in.

As for updating the unit, if you do not have the Down Imaging installed, you will need to register the unit with Humminbird.com.  Then you will be able to download the lates updates under My Account.  We also have the updates here on the forum in the Downloads Section on the top menu.

Here is a link showing how to update your unit.
