Had a 797c si on my previous boat with single outboard and install went well and I got great performance in salt water for all functionality.
Sold the boat and bought a dual engine deep V. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out where to install the transducer for side imaging (the only reason I bought the unit is for side imaging - boat already has a glassed-in ducer on a Furuno 7000).
Where do I put the transducer? The Contender hulls have a stepped transom. Should I place the ducer dead center, low, on back of transom? It should have an unobstructed view between the transom and the front of both outboard lower units?
Anyone have a similar install on a dual engine boat? I don't see how adding a second transducer would help because placing the transducers on the left and right sides of the outboards would place them too high up the transom due to the boat deadrise of 24.5 degrees.
Thanks for your help!

Hey Matt, Welcome to the forum. If you have pretty good space between the engines I would say go for it. Your main concern is not to cause any turbulence over the prop from the transducer that would cause the prop to cavitate.
If you could post some picts of your transom area from behind and left to right that would certainly help.
Good Luck,

Thanks for the reply Robert. Here's a few pics. BLUE circle location is the middle lowest point on the rear transom. With the engines trimmed all the way down like they are in the picture, there's maybe 3-3.5" of clearance space between the transom and front of engines. Positives are that it's a flat surface and seems like it would work. Negatives could be is this location deep enough in the water - maybe not. I don't need readings at speed with the humminbird, just good side scanning. My glassed in Furuno transducer does quite well at speed. Another negative is I may have to trim the engines up to use sidescan?
Now the RED circle location is definitely deep enough and has no obstruction from side to side, but will the drain plug sticking out 3/4" below this location impact the sidescan readings if it is mounted there? A negative is this location is not perfectly flat and has a slight curve to it.
Surely someone has a sidescan on a similar boat hull? Contender, Seavee, and Seacraft owners cannot all be ignorant to Humminbird Sidescans!!!!

I would put it down by the drain plug (red circle) just off to the side. The drain plug should not interfere.
