Title: Shut-Down Problems
Post by: Deltaden on June 27, 2010, 09:14:47 AM
Anyone else have a problem shutting down your unit?  My 898c works fine, but lately I have trouble shutting down.  I hold the power button at least 3 seconds but no response.  The light setting will come on, but not the message that says shutting down in XX seconds.  After a few more attempts, it finally works. I think it's strange to have the power on/off function and the light function on the same button.

Never had any problems from mine, but others certainly have similar issues.  The only fix may be to send it in to HB and let them adjust or replace the push buttons or membrane under them.

Good Luck,

Robert

Hi,

I too have seen the shutdown issue that you mention. From my past experience in microprocessor hardware and firmware development it looks to me like the HB box is spending too much time servicing some task before going back to the idle routine to initiate new work (Eg. "seeing the power buttom depressed"). This is a common problem with new designs (the 800's and (new) 900's run on a Linux operating system). I suspect that as time goes on these kind of issues will disappear through latter updates. As long as the power down sequence eventually gets initiated I'm happy.

Take care,
Roger
