Title: Video output
Post by: offroad on June 17, 2010, 04:50:32 PM
Ok talk about confused... l am...In the manual there is a plug diagram for what plug goes where..Now there seems to be one missing ? On my 898 there is a round sliver plug .It has pins in the middle and its threaded on the outside as well . l would like to hookup a extra screen but l am unsure of what plug to use. The manual does not mention this plug !But it says to hookup the extra screen to one of the other plugs .The round plug l think is the right one.. but better safe than sorry ..l cant copy the diagram to show you what l mean because its in PDF Format cheers Trevor

the plug with the pins is probably the ethernet future connector.   Video out is an RCA connector like on your dvd player.  One pin in the middle and the outside is the ground.  Sometimes it is marked in yellow..

Actually Humminbird sells a special Video Cable with a connector that hooks into the back of the unit and the other end has RCA connectors on it.

Here is the diagram you spoke about in the manual.  You can see where the cable above would connect to port #2 on the back.  It has two RCA jacks, the yellow is for video and the white if for audio.

It's interesting to note that the video out to rca jack cable from HB has video AND audio rca jacks when the units do not even have audio to output....

It might be for a future release where we can see the fish on the sonar screen and hear the fish talking so we will know exactly what kind of fish it is.

I don't have one to test it, but I assume it would output the beeps and alarms via the audio out.

Darn I cut off the audio connector.  All I wanted was the video.  I will see if I can solder it back on.

I cant imagine what the audio is for unless you like to hear beeps.
although with technology  maybe HB wil put in an MP3 player.
