Title: Reelfoot lake
Post by: cdgreentn on April 20, 2010, 09:55:13 AM
I am going to reelfoot lake in west TN this week , but can't take my boat with my HB.  Does anyone have any files of Reelfoot they would like to share? Tips would also be appreciated as this is my first trip. :)

Yes sir...I just happen to fish Reelfoot Lake often.  If you are not bringing your boat because of having the H B  Side Image...let me just say several locals are using those right now and they do work on shallow water lakes.  As for the stumps....just make sure it is mounted high enough from the bottom of the boat.  As for maps....just type in maps of Reelfoot lake anywhere in a search engine....you only need it from getting turned around...not for anytying else.  You will see once you arrive.  Good luck....drive slowly on the lake and some boat trails are marked with wood type poles...the lake is infested with stumps and logs.  Great fishing and hunting though....

Thanks,

I am coming from Knoxville and don't want to pull the boat so far.  i would love some file to watch in humviewer if anyone has any to get an ideal of the bottom.  Ofcourse GPS coords are great.

Don't worry about the bottom of the lake.  It is a slit filled bottom...i other words...the lake has a false bottom.  2 to some 4 feet of slit but on the lower end of the lake...mostly a sand bottom.  There is NO other lake in the U S like Reelfoot Lake.  You only learn the lake by fishing on it.  Hard to say.  Good Luck....
