Title: Transducer Helix - Xplore
Post by: MarjanK on September 30, 2025, 07:50:17 AM
Hi,

What is the difference between the “XM 9 HW MSI T” transducer, which is used with the Helix, and the “XM 14 HW CMSI T” transducer, which comes supplied with the Xplorer? Apart from the different connectors, are there any other differences? Could I use the Helix transducer (i.e. XM 9 HW MSI T) with an adapter on the Xplore without any loss of performance?

The only adapter for 14pin to 7pin is the AD 1429, but it only works for the 2d channel  ...

OK, I know it only works in 2D, but is the new "XM 14 HW CMSI T" better in 2D mode than the "XM 9 HW MSI T" with an adapter? Is there any difference between them in 2D use… do they contain different piezoelectric elements?
I'm asking whether it makes sense to buy the new EXPLORE with the new transducer 'XM 14 HW CMSI T' if I already have the 'XM 9 HW MSI T' installed on my boat.
Replacing only the head would be much simpler than installing an entirely new transducer system. ;D

While I have no insider information on the actual piezoes Humminbird uses, in the past Humminbird has always made a different designation for any new transducer released with a different piezo  ...

That being said, I would assume the 2d piezos are the same  ...
