Title: Best scenerio.
Post by: YankeeDoodler on April 15, 2010, 03:11:19 PM
Have done some searches, but haven't found good answer yet.  Have 727 mounted on the bow w/ ducer on TM.  Have 798c SI on the way.  Also have y-cable coming.  I primarily fish for crappie and look for structure, etc.  Question is:

What would be the best bang for the buck in locating sonar heads/transducer(s)?  Leave 727 up front and 798 at cockpit?  798 up front and 727 in cockpit?  Transducer(s) locations?  All advice very much welcomed.  Thanks.

I would mount the 798 at the cockpit and run the 727 on the bow.  Using the 798 to locate stucture and mark and then use your bow mount to stay on those spots. I have both a V-Hull and flat bottom boat that I run HDSI ducers on and are in the installation section photos to give you an idea.  I just got my 1197 but have been using my 798 past month on the consol using as stated above.  I run a minn kota on the bow with build in ducer and use that once I mark off the spots.
