Transducer crosstalk
« on: January 16, 2017, 07:30:57 PM »
When I have my 899 si on my bow on and I have my 999 si console on,both on side imaging. I get lines on the screens of the graphs. I'm thinking this is crosstalk between tranducers but does anybody know how to get rid of it? I am putting 2 helix 10" on my boat this year and I'm wondering if this will happen on those units. Do I go with 10 si and a 10 di and with this get rid of the lines?

What screens do you run on each unit?   Why do you want 2 Di units on the bow?

You will get crosstalk interference if both units are running the same frequency....If you have the sonar turned on, both units will always be transmitting 200Khz.

I was running side imaging on both, 1 unit on the bow and 1 on the console. So if I run the units 1 on down and the other on side it shouldnt interfere?

HB units transmit the 200kHz 2d for digital depth regardless of which view is being displayed ... and also regardless of which frequencies are selected in the "Menu" system ...

The only way to prevent crosstalk completely is to have both units use the same xducer thru Ethernet - or turn Sonar off 1 unit and use that unit as a chartplotter only ...

When you move to the other location, just do a quick press of the power button and turn the sonar off.

Crosstalk on the 200 Khz 2D will somewhat depend on the water depth....The deeper the water the more likely you are to have 2D crosstalk.....  If you leave SI enabled on both units, the likelihood of crosstalk will be be greater regardless of water depth
