Title: What's You Opinion? - Installing 998c - Keep the Lowrance?
Post by: MTBob on March 16, 2013, 05:30:51 PM
I'm installing a HB 998c in a Lund 1700 that has enough dash space for both my new HB unit and my old Lowrance X71 (circa 2001).  Is it worthwhile keeping the old unit?  the Lowrance works OK, but it's pretty basic.  I think I read somewhere that the Lowrance may interfere with the HB side image frequency.  Is that true?

Yes, it could.  I have a secondary unit for navigation, that way I can keep the Soanr or SI screen up as much as possible.  But the x71 is just sonar right?  B/W as well!  IMO, I dont think it brings anything to the table worth keeping it installed.

Save it for the John boat!

Yes, the X71 is just a sonar, fairly basic.  Hey, I like your way of thinking.  So, I take the Lowrance off the Lund and then, when the time's right, I says to the DW, in order to make use of that extra fish find, I need to get a Jon Boat.  Great idea!  ;D
