What size SD card?
« on: February 13, 2014, 07:46:31 PM »
I know I read somewhere on the forum, different folk's methods for recording data. Some used different chips for each lake, etc. Well, I cannot find that thread anymore, so I'm asking again,

What size of SD card are you using to record data, and why have you chosen them?

Thanks again folks,

Ed

The brand that I use is SanDisk and I have had good results. Started with 8GB which was plenty for a day. Now using 16GB for extra space.
One important item is the speed of the card. SanDisk current Ultra is 30MB/s and the Extreme is 45MB/s. Watch out for old product. (15&30MB/s.)
Amazon has been a good source. Sometimes you can get a sale at Staples.

Thanks NK, I was wondering about the newer, faster cards. I like the idea of a bit of extra space as well!!

I think you would be safe with a Sandisc 32gb Ultra!  I haven't tried the xSD  64GB cards in the unit yet, but imagine they will work.

Get the faster rea/write speeds for video 30mb+

Are you talking about the SDXC memory cards Robert?
To my knowledge they have not been tested with our products yet, at least officially that is.

Robert and Greg

Isn't 32GB the largest card you can use, or does that only apply to the older units?

32GB is the largest you can use but this is due to the maximum capacity of the SDHC memory cards.
