humminbird drpepth pre-made ethernet cable new
« on: May 12, 2013, 01:39:31 AM »
I have a pre-made Ethernet cable used for Humminbid such as the 1197si and the 1198si. This cable was built by a very experienced network engineer. It is used in my case to get the full data into Dr. Depth live while scanning. I'm including a new 14ft cable with it. With this design you can use any standard cat5 or cat6.
Asking $55 shipped to the intra United States..

I'll try again with pic... hmmm!

From me ;) this is still for sale. I bought a double ended cable for $45 on ebay, cut it, bought a patch cable, jack, terminated the jack on the cut humminbird, etc... But, you could make one too :)

Since Dr Depth has been acquired, I can't find the wiring diagram/pinout to an RJ45 connector. Might you happen to have a schematic?

Oceanscience,

I posted a reply to your request in another thread, but just in case somebody else does not see that I will answer here as well. Take a look at this thread that identifies the wires for connection between the Humminbird plug and a standard RJ45  end. It is the information I used making my fist cables and all of mine have worked well.

http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=2896.0

My first cables were produced by cutting a Humminbird cable and adding the RJ45 end, but I have made cables from scratch once I found a source for the M12 round plug like the Humminbird foks are using.

Hey thanks guys! I wasn't sure if it was a special or standard configuration for RJ45. This will be very helpful.

PS Check out the video below! We will hope to implement on of the Humminbird SI units in the same was as the dual frequency echo sounder in the video.

Oceanscience,

The application should be pretty easy if your remote vessel is large enough to handle the battery and Humminbird unit.

I am already using the ethernet capability and wireless router to link to my laptop running Dr. Depth for real time image. I had been looking into putting the unit on a very small boat or  one of those inflatable twin pontoon fishing floats for easy deployment and simply pulling it across an area in a grid manner to build the complete image of the bottom.
