1 How do you view Navionics map without GPS connected?
2 How to hide way-points on the screen without deleting them ?
3 My unit shows 0 ft in 3' or less the screen di is OK?
4 Slow screen update when recording and navigating at the same time. Would a sdhd chip help? I have a sd 2gig chip.

1. You need to power the unit up in one of the Simulator modes for this. If you want to save changes than start the unit like this:
- Power the unit on and while it is still showing the “Humminbird 898c Si” screen; press the MENU button. You should see three menu options to select from. Use the Up/Down Arrow key to select “Simulator” and than use the Right Arrow button to start it. You can than change Views to get to the Chart View, and than use the Zoom buttons and the cursor to zoom out and over to the area you want to see on the map. Just remember that any changes you make will than be saved to the unit.
If you don’t want to save any changes just plug up the power cable only and power the unit on.
2. There is no way to hide the waypoint icons.
3. What is your unit showing on the 2D sonar screen? Remember that the water depth is a measurement of how deep the water is from the transducer to the bottom of the lake – not from the surface of the water (there is a menu that will allow you to show this though).
4. That has been normal for the screen to slow down when making a sonar recording. What you need is a fester memory card and not a larger memory card. We recommend using the SanDisk Extreme III memory cards for sonar recordings due to their faste read/write times.

Greg and All:
SanDisk makes a LEVEL 10 card that reads/writes at 30 Megabytes per second now. It's called the "SanDisk Extreme" They come in 4 GB size and 8 GB size. I think but am not sure that they may go up to 16 and even 32 GB in size.
Level 10 refers to the speed that the data is written to the card. Faster is always better when it comes to writing data to the card and reading data from the card. 30 MB/sec is darn fast! You won't see much of a slow down using this card. You can save a waypoint and screen shot in about 1 second. Movies are recorded faster too. I think that this type of card writes about 200 times faster than the regular SDHC type cards.
The capacity is the amount of data that the card can hold. 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB refers to the capacity of the data card. GB = GigaBytes of data able to be stored on the card.
I found these SanDisk Extreme 8GB Level 10 cards at Best Buy in Evansville, IN.
But, I would guess that other Best Buy Stores carry these as well.

I live in o'boro, you go to ky/barkley much? got a 898 also, pretty nice!
