898 dual sd cards
« on: June 02, 2013, 03:31:54 PM »
My brother and I both have 898 si units.
We are going on a fishing tripwith his boat if we install two cards will the unit keep tracks and way points on both cards.
Allowing both of us to have waypoints and track from the trip..

Tracks and waypoints are stored internally in the units.  If you want them on a memory card you will have to perform an Export function in his unit.  You could export the data to your memory card at the end of the trip as he will have the tracks and waypoints still in his unit (until he Deletes them).  Better yet - export the navigation data to a memory card and back it up on your computer using HumminbirdPC.  You can set it up as a separate file on your computer with its own name (Bob and my fishing trip June 12.2013).

Screen Snapshots and Sonar Recordings are saved only to the memory card (not to the unit’s internal memory).  You would have to use a computer to make a copy of this data from one memory card to the other.  If you are going to do this you will need to copy all files and folders from one memory card to the other for it to work in your unit.

How do you preform the export function to get the info on the sd card.

On my 998 with 5.700 software-- On the main menu, tab to Nav, then down to Export All Nav Data, then choose yes.
On 6.18 software I think it got moved. Try tab to Nav, then down to Waypoints, Routes, Tracks and look in there.
