SD card format
« on: August 23, 2012, 04:20:13 PM »
In another thread HB Greg suggested using HBPC to correctly format your sd card. What is the difference in my PC (Windows 7) doing it. Does anyone know how to do this with HBPC? When I right click on the SD card icon in HBPC the same box appears as with the format box on my computer.

This would be to prevent the confusion as to whether to format in FAT16 or FAT32....and which one windows does by default.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

Good question Ricky.  Other than being told that it was the HumminbirdPC software doing this (by an Engineer) I don’t really know that it is the HumminbirdPC software doing it.

From the SD Association web site:
https://www.sdcard.org/developers/overview/capacity/

“Capacity (SD/SDHC/SDXC)
There are three standards for capacity:

SD standard - Up to 2GB SD memory card using FAT 12 and 16 file systems

SDHC standard - over 2GB-32GB SDHC memory card using FAT32 file system

SDXC standard - over 32GB-2TB SDXC memory card using exFAT file system”

Greg how do you use HumminBird PC to format your cards? I looked and looked and couldn't find anything that was obvious.

Someone had to show me as well Ricky:
Right click on the memory card icon.  One of the options should be “format”.
