Installing my unit to my Princecraft Holiday DLX BT
« on: June 25, 2014, 09:43:37 AM »
I'm having a hard time to get same deth results as my previous older (565) Unit. With my 798 it shows 19feet when it was 3 feet on my dock. Alos when i travel fast (29mph), my transducer produce a very high water jet in about 10 feet high and display 100feet of water when it should be 8 feet...

Do you have have good picture of your transdurer installed? I'm having a very hard time to install it correctly. I use a removable aluminium bracket to hold my transducer into the water.

thank you

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums Beaulieu80.

Did you put the black rubber plug into the Compact Side Imaging (CSi) transducer when you installed it?

Where do you have this transducer installed versus where the 565’s transducer was installed?

Can you post pictures of the transducer install on your boat?  We would need to see an overall picture of the transom of the boat plus several from both sides and closer up and all at the level of the transducer.

When the 798 unit was showing the incorrect depth, were there any other sonar units running at the same time?  Does it do this with all other electronic devices shut off (including the motor)?

Try adjusting the Surface Clutter menu to a lower number, possibly all the way down to a “1” setting.  If that does not do enough try setting the Water Type menu to the “Salt (deep)” setting.

I google image my boat and saw that most of the guys were having the transducer verry close to the center of the transome and about 5" of the engine foot. I will try that this weekend.
