HD units

Does anyone know if the 997csi is upgradeable to the HD technology?
Thanks

The 997 is (was) marketed as being HD technological advantage.
Are you asking if the upgrade will improve your screen resolution?
997 are an older unit and not in production any longer with the 998 replacement.
It is even hard to find a 997 out in the stores.
HB does not list the 997 on its page.  Even the legacy page does not show the 997 or the 1197 any longer...

Harry, or Robert.....  you have the 997 can you weigh in on this?

i am looking at the new 2011 units and notice that they are being marketed as HD combo.  Is that new technology or is my 997CSI capable of "HD"
Thanks

The 997 was marketed as HD.  I dont think an upgrade will do anything for resolution.
Also the 2011 units should be 998's....The 997 is no longer available from HB..
That is not to say that commercial stores do not have left over 997's.  Although on a search most of them now say out of stock...

997 are already HD technology. Don't have to be upgraded. Gary

I think that hoselrocket is referring to the “HD” designation on some of the 700 series units.  The HD refers to the fact that they have the best-in-class 640 X 640 pixel count display in them.  It also helps designate this year’s (2011) models versus those we had or are still making and lets you know that they also have the Ethernet connector on them.  Would have been less confusing if they would have given them all new model numbers but I guess they have just about run out of those.

HD is more of a marketing term and lessd of a technological  term as started by the TV and cables companies.
I agree with Greg.  The units should have had a better designation number.
997 or 998 ...........   1197 or 1198.  Why not a complete designation and less confusing....
We have plenty of numbers schemes.
