contour lines on lake map fading in and out
« on: August 23, 2011, 12:21:32 PM »
I have a 1198c si, and i am using a navionics platium map card.  On my last trip the countour lines on the lake map kept fading in and out,  a blank outline of the map would remain on the screen.  Anyone have any suggestions as to what might be wrong.   I updated my unit with the 5.70 just before going out.

Was it doing it before you updated?

It shouldn't, but they do recommend you remove all cards when doing the updates.

Do you have the Navionics card in when this happens?  Does it happen when its out?

If the Navionics card has nothing to do with it, I would probably go back to the previous update, see if it happens.  Then reinstall 5.700 and see if it happens.  (Make sure you dont have the Navionics card in when doing the update)

Good Luck,

To add to Robert's with the qujick link....at the top of the main forum page is a tab called Downloads.  You can
access this by cvlicking on the tab.  Then select yhour unit and look for stored downloads. chose the one you want.
Of course remember to restore factory defaults before loading any code..

As i look at the list of the downloads, i see the 5.500 on there also,  which i have not done,  would it be ok if i were to update my unit with all three (5.410, 5.500, and 5.700) in succession

Not necassary, but it could be done.  Each update will contain all the priors before it.  So if you go from 5.410 to 5.700, it will enable the feature or updates that were included in 5.500.  Just backdate to 5.410 or 5.500 and see if you get the same issue.

I went out today (Friday)l. I did the 5.500 update, the problem was still there but the frequency was not as bad,  when it first began it would fade in and out about every 15 to 20 seconds.  Today it would do about every 45 seconds.  No problems at all when i was not on plane.   I tried it with the settings on factory default,  no difference.  I then did the 5.700 update.   No change.
