How hot should an Onix get?
« on: May 14, 2015, 12:49:47 PM »
I was learning my new Onix and accessories in my yard for an hour or two. When I went to remove the Onix, I noticed it was pretty hot. It was hot enough to take notice. Actually it was cloudy and not that hot outside. Is this a concern? Now I am thinking of putting something white over it when I am in the boiling sun. 8)

My Onix gets way warmer than my 1197 ...and I mean the screen is more than just Luke warm ...

If it's an issue ... We both have an issue ...

The case actually gets hot on mine. Mostly on the back. I guess we will find out this summer. My cell Iphone will shut down if it gets too hot.

My Onix also runs too warm for my liking .  It makes me wonder how it will handle the July heat.

There is a big heat sink on the back to dissipate the heat.  It is a computer so to speak. a Laptop will get pretty hot and the more things that you have it do the hotter it will get.  As for me, I won't give it up to go back to a less powerful unit just because it gets hot.

I heard that Phil. If mine melts down tomorrow, I'm getting another one!  :D
But I am going to build a visor for it. I saw where someone actually took a small plastic garbage can and cut it in half.

When you get it made, take a picture and post it so we can all see.   That might also help see the screen better on a bright day.   The first time I took the Onix out I was not impressed with the 360 picture.   It was no where near as bright as when using the 1198.  As I was on my way home I realized what the problem was,  I had my sun glasses on.  :) Memory. ::)

Check out this post on here - "Anti-Glare shield on the cheap" I might try it when I get home!  I would paint the exterior white and the interior flat black. Maybe drill some holes for cooling.

I bought some prescription Costa sunglasses. I can't see the screen with them or without them.  8) I have a pair of cheaters in one hand and sunglasses in the other :-\

I am waiting for someone to invent a computer screen that will correct the screen for your vision so you don't have to wear glasses.  ;D
