Hey all,
Just wanted to know if it is possible and if so, has anyone tried this yet? I did a search on here but came up with nothing. I know on another site a guy converted a 300 series di unit to use a si transducer, so I'm guessing that it's possible to do it with the 788!?!?
Thanks

Welcome to the Side Imaging Forums bpoe42kac.
Yes it is possible and you should be able to get the same type of results. Just be aware that you would probably need to use the HDSi (not the Compact Side Imaging – CSi) transducer for this so that the 788ci DI unit will be able to use both the 455kHz and 800kHz DI sonar. However, the 455kHz 2D sonar will not work correctly.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I might have to give this a shot and see just how well it works! I'm one of those guys that has to tinker with everything that I get, so this seems right up my alley!
Thank you gregg

Post back your results – with screen snapshots. I have not done this myself and so am curious too!

I wonder if this is Vic3 on Crappie.com that bpoe42kac was referring to.

I actually found it on BBC, and yes I do believe the guys name was Vic!?!? It's been a few weeks ago but I posted a reply with the same screen name I have here and didn't really get much informative feedback. So, I started scanning google looking for other possible links. That's what led me to this site. I have not tried to hook up the ducer yet bc I have yet to even buy one of the HDSI ducers. But when I do, I will give a follow up with pics and whatever info I have.
Thanks

He's a ingenious fellow with quite an interesting setup...
