Title: 898c SI networking question
Post by: Jim_C on March 12, 2015, 10:12:43 AM
Looking to up grading the unit on the bow. Right now I am using the interlink to network my units and I have a 898c SI on the console. Will any of the units available today allow me to still use the interlink system?  If Ethernet network required what upgrade version will I need on the 898c SI?

The current line-up of units will not use the InterLink.  Anything with a 9 as an ending number (899ci HD Si, 959ci HD DI,…).

5.410 or higher on the 898 unit for Internet to work.  A more current version would be better though as there have been changes in several software updates that help the Ethernet connection.

Thanks for the response. So if I got a 998c HD SI I would be able to use the interlink? Would the update versions have to be similar for the interlink to work? From what I have read when using the Ethernet the update versions need to be similar on the two units is this correct?

Correct on both accounts there Jim_C.  The software versions have to be at the same 'level' or the beginning number.
