Title: Problem
Post by: cokeman6 on July 22, 2009, 07:40:18 PM
Ok Here's my problem. Water depth readings are all over the place, especially the numbers after the decimal.
Depth readings were fine with my 797 that was mounted at the console. This year I purchase a 798 and mounted it at the console with a transom mount and moved the 797 to the front of the boat with a trolling motor mount. Both units have  the same issue with water depth.
I have tried running one unit at a time, turning off all other electronics, moving the unit from the console to the front of the boat, turning on and off the TVG and adjusting the filter. I also replaced the trolling motor transducer from the SI to the XNT 920 T.
Both units have the newest software.
Help…………..

Cokeman6,
Try resetting everything to the factory defaults.
Than switch the Water Type to the Deep Salt water setting and decrease (use a higher number) the Surface Clutter setting.

Thanks, Greg. Made the changes today on the water and that fixed the problem. One more question, can I increase the size of my way point names so the a old blind guy (me) can read them going down the lake.

That’s not possible Cokeman6.  You’ll have to use my optometrists’ solution and get bifocals like me!
