Prerequisite:
A PC-compatible computer running Windows 95 or higher
At least one USB port or serial port
Java version 6 update 26 at a minimum
Are you running a high enough Java as indicated above ... ??

I checked and am running Java version 8.0510 so should be good there.

Try removing the program again ...
Then download HBPC from your HB account again ... But download the .exe application to your Desktop 1st ... (with the "Save As" command at the prompt) ...
Then run the .exe installer from the Desktop icon ...
-------
There are several hits on Google about Humminbird PC and Windows 7 ...

Rickie thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately none of them worked. Searched Google also and nothing there either. Guess I will have to run it on another computer. This worked before I had to reinstall the laptop so maybe there is something else missing. I installed the latest Java so that is not it. I usually use Chrome so even tried downloading HumminBirdPC.exe via Internet Explorer and reinstalling but, the same error displayed.

It may be a good idea to call HB and see if they have other reports of this ...
Their CRC people are supposed to be versed in HBPC also ...

Finally got it to work. Followed these steps
Took an old version of the software (3.2.2) off a different PC onto a flash drive.
Shut off the anti virus software on the laptop
Installed the software
Ran the program and it worked
Turned the anti virus software back on
Ran program again it and it worked
So not sure if it was shutting off the anti virus software or the older version but it is working now. So as they say "If it ain't broke don't fix it"

Have you tried installing the new version with the anti-virus disabled ... ??
Maybe that's the key ...??
