Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums bgump24.

You should contact the Humminbird Customer Resource Center folks (1-800-633-1468) about returning your unit if that is what you want to do.  If you registered your unit under the Humminbird Select Program you will have a different call in number I think.  Cost will be determined whether it is still under warranty or not and the nature of the damage.  The CRC folks can clear that up for you.

Let's try and eliminate the possibility that there is nothing wrong with your unit first: make sure that the Voltage Alarm menu is not set too low in your unit.  After that I would cross-test it on another boat and see if their unit shows the same voltage as yours does and whether you get the same low voltage message on their boat or not.  If the problem seems to be limited to your boat you need to start checking the wiring for any electrical connection that is loose or corroded.  Be sure to check the fuse, fuse holder and battery connections as these are sometimes overlooked.  The gauge of the wire between the power cable and the battery needs to be at least a 16 AWG or larger to be able to carry enough current for the unit.

HB unit don't have a reliable volt readout. So....

My 778C was spot on... and my 798 HD is at least 0.5V lower than the real voltage.. Go figure!

Greg thanks but other then the voltage issue I was referring to some software fixes or something for the 899 I thought I read somewhere you could send your unit back and get it updated to fix some hardware or software issues

bgump24,
You would still send it back through the Humminbird Customer Resource Center folks.
Software updates are free and you can do these yourself.  If you sent your 899ci HD Si unit in for a software update, there will be a charge for it.
