997 shuts down while trying to transfer waypoints to SD card
« on: November 04, 2012, 10:01:37 AM »
Hey guys. I cursor to the waypoint, routes tab and push the right cursor to go the export area, so I can move waypoint to SD card, the unit shuts down. Tried going back to a later SW version (it has 6.3 now) still shuts down. Tried going to the selection without a card installed, still shuts down. Any ideas?

Try backing up to a software version before the Waypoint Management system was added to the software.  Version 5.450 was the last version before this was added.  It may be that you have a corrupt waypoint that this software does not like.

Check those waypoints than bomac, ‘cause at least one of them is corrupt and upsetting the newer software.

Is there a tutorial on how to check them. I have transferred them back and forth using Fugawi's Hot Maps on the PC and it seems like there are several duplicates.

Not that I know of bomac.  We recommend downloading them into the current version of the HumminbirdPC program and then uploading them back to the memory card (selecting to “Replace” the data on the memory card).  The HumminbirdPC program should catch the corrupt ones but does not always do so.  When the data is in HumminbirdPC I would look for any ‘strange’ dates and names for the waypoints, routes and tracks.
