Title: 997 suddenly freezes while recording
Post by: DiveExplorer on June 18, 2016, 02:47:17 PM
I was recording data and my 997 begun to freeze. The picture on the screen, the side scan data froze. I could stop the recording, and restart the unit and than it worked. It froze couple of times.

Does anybody know what could be the reason for this.

It sounds like the processor is being over taxed ... maybe even by a corrupt waypoint ...

It would be a good idea to get all your Nav data into HBPC and look for irrelevant coordinates, irrelevant waypoint dates, duplicate Waypoints, and anything suspicious of corrupt Nav data ...

It would also be a good idea to test the unit recording without a map card as this can take some resources also ...
----

On another note ... Low and/or insufficient power can create weird functionality in the unit features ...

Yes insufficient power could be, but after couple of "freezes" it worked for couple of hours.

When I started the unit there was a prompt that there were insufficient memory for waypoints and etc.

I was just wondering of someone else might have ran into same thing as I.
