I've wondered why HB decided to make and include the XNT 9 DI T with their "Dedicated DI" units...

As we know, the XNT 9 DI T has 2 Down Imaging "thin slice" beams of 455kHz 75°/800kHz 45° with an additional 2 conventional "cone shaped" beams of 200kHz 25°/ 455kHz 16°...

We also know that HB released a trolling motor mounted "Dedicated DI" xducer...the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T ...which has 2 Down Imaging "thin slice" beams of 455kHz 75°/800kHz 45° with an additional 2 conventional "cone shaped" beams of 200kHz 20°/83kHz 60°...

The HB website shows exactly 5 DI models compatible with the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T ....those being the 858c DI, 858c HD DI, 958c DI, 958cHD DI, 1158c DI....

It would seem to me that these specific DI units will have a"Transducer Select" setting under the Sonar tab for "Down +200/83"...

What this confirms (I think) is that these 5 specific DI models are capable of transmitting the 200kHz/83kHz frequencies IF there is attached a HB Dual Beam xducer capable of vibrating the piezoes at 200kHz and 83kHz....

I examined the pin configurations of the XNT 9 DI T (that comes stock with the HB dedicated DI units)...and the AS SIDB Y cable and the XP 9 20 (standard Dual Beam 200/83kHz) and it seems that the pins are in the correct configuration of all 3 components for using a standard HB Dual Beam 200/83 xducer on the AS SIDB Y cable along with the stock XNT 9 DI T xducer and have the capability to employ the larger cone shaped beams of the XP 9 20's 200/83kHz Dual Beam...and still get the stock DI beams from the XNT 9 DI T ...

I could see this being a viable option for users that already own 1 of the 5 specific DI models above ...and happen to have an exta HB xducer laying around that is capable of 200/83kHz....

The only other purchase needed would be the AS SIDB Y cable to get the larger 200kHz 20°/83kHz 60° cone shaped beams along with their dedicated Down Imaging...

I do not own a HB dedicated DI unit to experiment with this idea so if anyone thinks they may be interested in trying this...you must understand ...

This setup is completely experimental and could very possibly cause unforeseen problems or catastrophic failure AND MOST LIKELY WILL VOID THE HB WARRANTY ...for hooking things to the HB unit not listed as compatible with that specific unit....

My OCD stays too busy some times...:)

Greg....What DI unit is that?  Is this an option on the smaller DI units or the 800 series and larger?

Bob...I'll let Greg confirm this ....but the DI +200/83 probably only applies to the larger DI units...

That tells me that only those 5 exact DI models are capable of pushing the 200/83 frequency...

What I don't know yet is how to get that Transducer Select option without the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T attached...1 of the guys at crappie.com said his 958c DI did not have the option of "DI +200/83"...

I'm hoping that the unit "senses" the 200/83 and then adds the "DI + 200/83"...

Or better yet....maybe a certain software version adds the "DI + 200/83" to the Transducer Select menu...

Maybe Greg can help here...

That was a 998c DI unit.
Yes, this is only an option with the larger (800, 900 and 1100 series) DI units.

Not sure if this was always there or if it was added through a software update.   I found nothing in my notes to indicate this, though an earlier version of the operations manual did not show this menu option (it could have been added after the manual was readied for use).  My guess is that it was added through software if someone cannot find it in their larger DI model unit.  It was in the unit I tried but it also had 6.680 version software in it.  Simply connecting a transducer to the units will not give additional transducer select menu options as the unit has no way of knowing what model transducer was connected.

When I saw the DI 200/83 menu option, I knew that you would be able to use one of the standard DI transducers with the As-Si-DB-Y cable and a 200/83kHz DualBeam transducer.  I already knew what the pin connections for these transducers were and knew this would work just like the Si units with a 200/83kHz DualBeam transducer.

I guess I need to track down what version of software installed this "Transducer Select" option..so I can advise those that are not seeing this selection with their current version...

"Transducer Select" is the name of the menu.  All of the DI units should already have this but the "DI 200/83" menu selection may not be in all software versions.
