more SI depth range with XHS-9-SI-160-T ?
« on: July 12, 2010, 07:34:18 AM »
Hi

First we want to say HI to everybody because it is our first massage. We are from Turkey and we bought 998 csi this year to find the rocks in sea of Marmara. We found really nice places that nobody knows in whole history that made us able to catch some fish that people believe this kind of fish have been died out years ago! According to our experience 998 can scan until 60 meters(in some cases) depth when we set the frequency 455khz. But we want to investigate the stones 80-100 meters with SI. when i think myself if we use previous generation transducer, i mean  XHS-9-SI-160-T, i think it scan 262khz SI , we will be able to scan until 100 meters depth !!?? (i think it will be worse quality image)

my question are ;

1) is that sensible thought about scaning 100 meter depth with SI?

2) if it is possible ; are we able to use this transtucer with Y cable, do they use the same input , i mean same cable ?

3) can we use this transducer with 998 standart transducer  simultaneously for quadrobeam ?

Thanks  alot :)

KSC,

Welcome to the forum.  Glad to hear you have had some great success with the 998.

To answer your questions:

1) is that sensible thought about scanning 100 meter depth with SI?
No, you will not be able to get 100 meters depth with the 262kHz.  Max is going to be around 60 meters.

2) if it is possible ; are we able to use this transducer with Y cable, do they use the same input , i mean same cable ?
Yes, you can use it with the Y cable.

3) can we use this transducer with 998 standart transducer  simultaneously for quadrobeam ?
Not sure what you mean about using "simultaneously for quadrobeam", but I think you are asking if you can use the 262kHz and 455kHz at the same time?  The answer would be NO.  The Standard SI (262/455) Transducer is just like the HDSI (455/800) Transducer.  It just has different elements (frequencies) for the SI.  You can only use one freq at a time on SI.

Hope that helps,

Robert

Hi RGecy

thanks for your answers. I tried to ask at third question ; i think we will need a second transducer to use quadrobeam skill of 998, is  this transducer (XHS-9-SI-160-T) proper for this or which transducer we should buy to use quadrobeam skill?

thanks alot

No that is the Standard SI transdcuer (262/455).

There are several different Quadrabeam Transdcuers, depending on the mount you want.  A standard transom mount QB transducer would be XNT-9-QB-90.

Look on the Humminbird website under transdcuers and if it has "QB" in the part number, it is a QuadraBeam transdcuer.
