I called Humminbird customer support yesterday and asked them if they could
give me any information on when the next update will be coming
out.
They said they don't know when the next update will be out or if one
is even in the works. They said if one does comes out, it may not be numbered 5.7.
I let them know about the slow playback speed on recordings
and they said they would let the techs know.
I've been checking the website everyday and this just ain't cool. :(

I can tell you this. There will not be a 5.700! There has already been a 5.830 that went through testing and right now 5.840 is being tested. Weather or not 5.840 will be released is another story.
So unofficially.... it is in the works!

You will also find that the CRC folks will not give you a date – even if they have been told one. This is due to those last minute found software problems that keep the software from being released on the promised date. If we broadcast that we will have XXX version software ready for release on the 27th of this month and it ends up taking an additional month to work it out (or a year plus for the Waypoint Management software) than it just looks like we were lying to the Customer to begin with.
Also, the CRC folks are usually not told about upcoming software as they have enough to try and remember as it is now. There would be no need in them to know about it until it is officially released for use anyways, as they would not have access to it or be able to send it to anyone.
