Title: Navionics Maps and Sonar saved Data
Post by: fgcity on January 14, 2014, 06:07:12 PM
Hi everyone.

I have the 798c SI sonar and recently got my self the Navionics Gold maps SD card.

However, i like to save the Sonar data to the Memory card and then open it up on my PC and view it later on with ReefMaster or other software.

After doing some reading, it turns out i cannot save the sonar data to the Navionics SD card since later on if i try to open the files on the PC, the maps will be destroyed due to the card format ?

Is there any way to keep the maps and transfer the sonar data to the PC?

If this is a 798 unit, it will have two SD card slots.  Install a blank SD card in the other slot and save away.

If your mapping card has a slide lock on it ...it would be a good idea to keep this in the locked position so that there is no way anything can be written to the mapping card accidentally ...and ruin the mapping card..

HB recommends the Sandisk brand SD Card for saving snapshots and recordings...and for exporting GPS data to...

Max card size is 32Gb and "faster write speeds" are beneficial (especially in saving screenshots and recordings)...

I use the Sandisk Extreme III SDHC 45mbps write speed...
