I made two recordings today and did not actually stop recording with the unit. I just powered down and hummviewer will not open the .dat files but they play on the unit itself. Is there any way to rename the files or "close" them so that hummview will recognize them. I have some pretty good stuff and hope  i can save it ... THANKS

I edited the .dat file of my two recordings with the the info from a properly recorded/ stopped clip and changed the number to correspond with the two recordings I made earlier today. It loaded each with an error message and played the recording although playback quality was pretty bad. Nowhere near how it looked today on the hb unit. Any suggestions how to clean it up or os it just the nature of the beast? Thanks

Humviewer should be a good view, in fact maybe a bit better than the unit..because of a larger screen possibly.

I suppose you can rename the files but I would suggest leaving the names as they  are and putting them in a descriptive file name.

C:\sonarrecords\lake Richie\04072011\

Can you have humview make a picture of your record and post here.

It's not a matter of renaming. The files were I powered the unit down didn't "close"  kinda like when you burn a dvd and it closes the process so it can be read on another machine. These files didn't have any data inside the r00004.dat files. So I copied the info and edited the bad files with the info from the good file and it worked but can assure you that quality is no where near as clear as it was on my unit at the time.

OK...can you post a picture from the screen..
A play back should be the same as a recording..
