Title: 1197-Any software update issues?

It's been at least a few years since I updated the software; I have always been reluctant because of the risk of it locking up then having to send it to the factory to get it working again; Since 2009 when I bought it new there have been countless cases of major problems during and after a software update with other users.

I feel it's time to do it again as it's been a at least 3 years so before I do-anyone out there have any update issues I should know about?

If you are not on 6.310 for the 1197 .... it would be good to do that......I wouldn't update the 1197 beyond that software release.

Beyond 6.310, Humminbird made some major changes in the software that kinda screwed up the 2D sonar ..... I think it hit the 1197 harder than some of the other models.

If you don't have any accessories that require higher than 6.310, the best all round imaging and features are 6.310.....The 360 can't be used on the 1197 anyway.....Ipilot link and heading sensor would be the other things that need a higher revision, and they are supported by the 1197.

There has been an update to the 99 and 98 series to improve the 2D problem, but the 1197 hasn't gotten this release, and I don't know for sure if it will or not.

I have an 1197 and I don't think I will ever update it beyond 6.310.

This is 6.570 that I had to load into my 1197 to operate the AS GPS HS antenna ...

And the above is exactly why I would rather stay at 6.310 instead of using the AS GPS HS antenna ...
