I have a 997si and I have noticed that when running on plane I lose parts of my gps map for a few seconds (Navionics Platinum 2010) also I have noticed that the lower third of my screen is shaded I can still see the map but not as bright , and this area changes with different zoom levels. Does anyone have any suggestions on why this is happening and if their is some sort of fix for this.

Your bio indicates you haven't updated your software to the version issued in June to correct the problem.

Sorry about the bio , I have the 4.950 version on both units

LOL, well I guess that takes care of that remedy.
Next opinion ??????????????????

Cosmo, I am not sure it directly applies but when I put my 2009 Platinum in my 1197 it slowed my map down considerably. If you are recording make sure you have a fast chip for data storage. When not in use I disable 3d functions also. Both had an effect on map refreshing faster Bob

Thanks Bob, I will that a try.

I have the 2010 version of Navionics premium.
My unit is an 1198 and it does the same thing when running 55-60 mph.
I too am confused on what to do. Hope there is an update fix in the future.

jgollihar , I was told that if I turned the overlay off it help the refresh work faster. I tried it and it did speed it up some but its kind of pointless in having a 200 dollar card if you can't use all the options.
