Title: Power Wiring Compatability - HDS to Helix

Bought a Helix 7 to replace a Lowrance HDS5 on the bow of a center console. The power wiring is concealed, and I'm hoping for an easy DIY install. Is it possible to just cut off the Lowrance plug in and splice the Helix wiring into the existing Lowrance wiring that goes to the battery?

Possible ... yes ...

Recommended ... probably not ...

There have been so many reports of weird issues in the more complex units these days ... and a great % of them are related to poor or intermittent power to the unit ...

You could try it ...

If you start seeing weird issues ... You would know what to change 1st ...

At the minimum ...verify a 3amp fuse in the positive side close to the battery ...
