http://www.wtoc.com/global/story.asp?s=12383933Camden County sheriff's deputies found Bryce's truck as they were helping the Department of Natural Resources search the waterway for the missing teen. "We were in the process of going over everything that's been done and rechecking everything," said AASU Police Chief Wayne Willcox. "They came up here and spent about an hour and a half. On the last trip they spotted something using a side scan sonar, they sent a diver to investigate, that's when they found the truck."
Authorities contacted Bryce's family when the truck was discovered. Back in February, authorities searched the water around Bell's Landing but nothing was found.
What surprises me is that this area was searched 2 or 3 times prior to today! Here is a picture from Bing Maps showing the waterway. This search could have been done in 1 pass! I don't know what side scan sonar was being used, but you know the Humminbird would have been perfect for the job!
Chuck (Sonar2000) and I were asked to come in on this project after they had cleared this area and expanded out but never got the chance to search the areas around the campus. I had a feeling and even mentioned this to Chuck, that he would most likely be found within 2 miles of campus!
I am glad they have brought some closure to the family, but the cause of death is yet to be determined.
