I learned of this today so be carefull when using the converter and the viewer. Your position will be off by quite a bit.

There is a problem with the Lowrance viewer’s conversion of UTM to latitude and longitude.  My converter, SideScan Calculator (download from http://www.oceanecology.ca/SideScanCalculator.htm (http://www.oceanecology.ca/SideScanCalculator.htm)) converts the Humminbird data into UTM coordinates.  However, Lowrance’s SonarViewer is inaccurate in its conversion of the UTM back to latitude and longitude.  I have noted this in my instructions for SideScan Calculator:

Note: the latitude and longitude values shown in SonarViewer are somewhat inaccurate due to variations in the calculation formulas used by Humminbird and Lowrance for converting UTM meters to degrees.  For better accuracy, use the “View” à “Options …” à “Mercator Meter” setting in SonarViewer.
