Have a look at this thread (http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=6809.0). You might be suffering the same problem, where you have another program called "setup.exe" in the same folder that you downloaded HBPC to, and it opens that instead of it's own setup program. It's an issue that's been around for a long time with HBPC and I don't think HB are interested in fixing it..
The quick way to fix this, btw, is to copy your downloaded HBPC installer into a new directory (with nothing else in it) and run it from there.

I called HB. They were magnificent. I was using Foxfire to download, and they suggested IE. IE worked like a charm!!! No crap involved!

No Matt, I don't consider RM crap. the junk was video viewers, disc optimizers, PC doctors, etc. etc. HB told me that firefox, which I really like normally, likes to "add on" additional crap software. I'll use IE for DLing from now on!!

Good stuff - I wasn't suggesting that you thought that :)
It's just that this error in the HBPC installer will try and install anything that has the name "setup.exe" that already exists in the current directory - I had issues where I thought HBPC was trying to install some dodgy toolbars long before I was involved with RM!

Dang!  Thanks guys!  I had been trying to DL the HBPC for a few days, one look at your message and had it done before I could finish typing this note!
