I am going to give this another go because my email to Humminbird won't be returned for 2-3 days and last time I tried to use email to contact them it took more than a week for them to reply and even then they just asked me a basic quesiton.
I want to get this item solved within 7 days. This is day 4.
I have a 798cx si.
I downloaded the 798ci SI firmware from this site (I have a international unit with an external GPS puck)
I reset my default and got rid of my waypoints etc.
I put in a 2GB SD card with the firmware and nothing happened execpt the FF wrote a profile.txt file to my unit
What now?

You don't have to read this part it is just a bunch of reasons why I am looking for an answer here.

1) I can't register it on the Humminbird site. I don't get an error the webpage just sits there and won't let me select a model for my serial number
2) I did register it before but can't remember what I registered it under
3) I did call the support in Canada and was sent the wrong file by mistake and they don't have a readme for the firmware either.
4) I can't call US tech support because well it doesn't work from my work phone for some reason.
5) When Humminbird customer service is open I am at work.
