kc,
How is the GPS Receiver connected to your 1197 unit?
What software version is in your 958c?

Why didn’t you go with the Ethernet connection instead of the InterLink?

It would be helpful if we had a big map of interconnection possibilities so that buyers could be able to figure out the right products and accessories.
Maybe it would be nice if a customer filled out a form prior to purchasing so that the right match could be made based on his/her needs/expectations.
This should be a feature of the HB web site. Or has customer service left the planet..
On line dating services have a great partner matching interview. ::) :-X :-*
Outlet stores for the large part are not familiar with the HB products and in most cases market other competetor items also. They have only a basic understanding at best. Nor do they care which you buy...only that you buy..
The user is on their own to determine all the possibilities and then try to make the correct decision.

kc,
My guess is that the 958c has older software and needs to be updated and that your InterLink needs to be updated as well.  This may take a series of steps, so in my opinion the “best” solution would be to update the software on your 958c and get rid of the InterLink by using the Ethernet cable connection between the 958c and 1197c Si units.  This will give you more future expandability as well.  You will have to connect the GPS Receiver to one of the units but I would not stop there and connect a GPS receiver to each unit (with the GPS Receiver being mounted as close to the transducer that unit normally uses as I could get it).

Why not be able to share a gps receiver?.
Look at the cost of two receivers...

Chuck both the 958c and 1197c Si are “Combo” units in that they are packaged with a GPS Receiver.  So he should have one somewhere and therefore it won’t cost him anything more other than the effort to install it.  Besides with only one GPS Receiver his waypoints (if marked using sonar data) for one of his units would be more inaccurate I am assuming that his 958c is at the bow).

I would suppose that two receivers at different locations would be more accurate but again are the gps receivers directly on top of the transducer.
I guess I am looking at a 16 to 17 foot boat with a gps at the bow, a gps at the console and a transducer at the stern. The difference in antenna and transducer would have to be considered for the accurate position.
Which is why we have our gps and transducer antenna directly over/under each other..
Maybe we should make a towable float with the gps on top and the transducer under.
HMMMMMMMMMM...maybe this would help to relieve the interference we so often see. ;D.. :(.. :o.. ::)...

kc,
Software version 5.410 turns on the Ethernet for your 958c unit.  Download it and update your 958c unit and try again.
