New Manual (Please post on wish list)
« on: March 07, 2013, 12:04:41 PM »
Here is a copy of a note I sent to  Doug Vahrenberg hoping he has some pull with Humm.

I have put a lot of thought into this because, 1. I am technically challenged and 2. I have seen so many questions on line that could be answered by a good manual. I am sure that not too many people have spent more time on line searching for info about my 898c-- for someone that would “say it” so a light would go off in my head, – oh!!! that's what the the manual means!!!!
If you have any sway with humminbird PLEASE show them this request.
I would LOVE to see a new manual written that takes into consideration many of the FAQ that posted on line (could it be possible that many of these questions are because the manual is hard to understand for the average Joe). More importantly, I would strongly suggest that it be written NOT just by a tech person for people that are technically oriented but for the weekend fisher person (that is where most of new sales will come from). Include a person that is an an English major that knows how to communicate in a clear manner along with the tech people.
It would be cheap enough for the company to make and update if it were made down loadable---even make it as an app. so that people could take it with them while fishing. Maybe even have a manual that could be loaded and read from one of the card slots in a split screen mode.
I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?

Certainly not a bad idea.  I am sure the issue has to do with how often it needs to be rewritten, etc. Just think, your average english major doesnt know much about sidescan sonar or gps etc!  what I do think coming over need to do is come out with a set of instructional DVDs that I would come with the unit or can you purchase separately.I think they have tried to post videos when new technology has come out and help the end user and we have tried to post those videos as best we can here and on other web sites.

Does it need to be updated? YES.
