Title: Newbie Questions
Post by: fishin-kid on September 09, 2013, 08:37:07 PM
1) Does it always create a track ?   It goes away when the unit is turned unless I save it, right ?
2) Does my 598 always create a waypoint at the start of every recording ?
3) What should my expectations be when returning to a waypoint ?  Within 25 ft, 50 ft, 100 ft, same zip code ?

thanks in advance for any info.

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums fishin-kid.

1) Depending on the software version it may always create a Track.  With the latest software you should have the option to turn this off.  Look under the “Current Track” menu and see if it has the option to “Stop Tracking” or not.  If not, check to see if you are running the current software in your 598ci HD Si unit. [Page 140 of the operations manual.]

2) Yes.  It will always create a Waypoint where the Sonar Recording starts. [Page 46 of the operations manual.]

3) That depends on where you are fishing and if there any objects (trees, mountains, buildings,…) between you and the satellites.  You should be able to look at the GPS Diagnostic View and see what the Estimated Position Error (EPE) is for your unit. [Pages 7 and 92 of the operations manual.]
