helix 9 si chirp mega
« on: March 23, 2018, 07:06:54 PM »
hi guys,
Ive just purchased a helix 9 mega and have only been out twice.
I was mostly on si and recording.i went threw 2d,si,and di,and when i got to di,I had nothing.I thought
i must have a setting wrong .I went out today intent on using down image and trouble shooting.I came up with nothing .If you crank the sensitivity way up ,you can get a faint image of I don't know what.Is there some setting I could be missing?
Thanks in advance
Bob

Shouldn't have to set the sensitivity that high ..... I would try to reset defaults first in case a setting got messed up, if that doesn't do anything for you.... you may have to give Humminbird customer service a call.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

I negelated to say that I was using the y cable from the 798 unit
and it must not be compatible with mega unit.I took y cable out and it should be okay next outing.
thanks

You are correct that the AS SIDBY Cable used with previous core series units is not compatible with MEGA series  ...

MEGA series requires the 9 M SIDB Y cable  ...

By using this new 9 M SIDB Y y-cable,is there any way to select
whether you watch 2 D Cherp or reg 2d duel beam,or to incorporate
the cable switch I already have.

CHIRP Configuration settings are under the Setup tab  ...
-----

All of the HB DB Y cables physically disconnect the wire going to the 2d piezo in the SI xducer and connect the wire going to the 2d piezo in the 2d xducer  ...

Any changes to CHIRP settings for the 2d channel will be only affecting the 2d piezo in the 2d xducer  ...
