Hi folks.
Sorry for my bad english.....
Since a few years I'm happy with my 898c HD SI which I use only in 2D-mode.
I fish in the ocean between 100-400 ft of water. Makes no sense with DI or SI......
I wanted to improve my 200kHz signal with a transducer from Airmar. TM-260 or TM-270.
As I saw in the specs it look's like my unit is capable of an output power of 1'000W RMS.
I was wondering, why I don't "burn" the Airmar P79 (600W) when I using it with my 1kW-unit since years.
Otherwise on Furuno units, you can change our output-power (600W, 1kW, 2kW..).
Today I found this post:
http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=7486.msg44990#msg44990Quote from Greg:
"The 898 units are a 1'000 watts RMS sonar unit but only when using an optional 50kHz transducer. When using the 200/83kHz frequencies they are a 500 watt RMS unit."I NEVER saw a note in the manual, that this unit only supports 1kW only at 50kHz.
But I suspect this is a fact and if so, it makes no sense to upgrade my unit with such an expensive transducer.
Can anybody confirm, that it's not possible to gain the signal at 200kHz from 500w to 1Kw?
And if so this is only a further confirmation, that this brand is generally more made for lakes than for the ocean.....
Thanky you for any advise.
Martin
