Topic: Helix 10 G2n Mega SI won't display saved waypoints

Installed this spring, worked fine. Tried to update to V1.460, restorimg defaults first per instuctions. Unit locked up, showing "shutting down" screen. I sent it in to HB and they repaired and updated it under warranty. Now it does not save waypoints properly. When I push the mark button, it shows a new waypoint, displayed as a blue dot. Each waypoint has a new consecutive number (I'm up to WP016). But once the unit is turned off and back on, no waypoints are visible on the screen. In the waypoint management dialog box, no waypoints are shown, yet each time I mark a waypoint, it is displayed on the chart screen and the  number is incremented. I've gone through all the waypoint management options and can't figure out a solution. I suspect I'll have to send it back to HB, but don't want to do that again until winter.

Have you tried Restore Defaults since receiving the unit back from HB  ...??

No, because the last time I did that, to attempt to install V1.460, it locked up and I had to send it to the factory to get it fixed. I'm not doing that again until I put the boat away for the winter.

Are you creating the way points in Normal of Simulator mode  ...??

Normal mode. When I'm actually on the water fishing and navigating with a Lakemaster card.

Restore Defaults is going to be the best advice I can give  ...

There have been reports of weird unit functionality if there is a corrupt waypoint in the unit memory  ...

You might export your waypoints to an SD card and look at them in Humminbird PC  ...

Look for odd dates, duplicate waypoints, odd waypoints formatting, waypoints with any characters except numbers and letters  ...

did you ever get this issue resolved? i am experiencing the same issue on my Helix 5 Chirp GPS G2.

I have restored the default settings and formatted the nav directory after backing up my waypoints and the unit is still misbehaving.

There were some earlier software versions in which a waypoint was not saved if “Screenshots” under the Accessories tab was toggled On while there was no SD Card inserted in the unit  ...  ...

in case anyone else has this issue i had to send my unit in for repair. the repair order says "repair circuit board"

I am speculating that the internal memory chip was loose since i was also not able to update the firmware.
