Topic: Issue closing SD card cover on 999 & 959

Does anybody else have an issue closing the SD card door on the 999 and 959 type of unit. I find it is almost impossible to not disengage the SD card on the right side slot trying to close the cover. I have to put my Lakemaster card in the left side to even have a chance to close it without it releasing itself. No matter how careful I am.

I had the same issue with my 999.  What ever card I put in the right slot is subject to be dislodged when closing the cover.  I have figured out how to do it but it requires some patience and inserting the cover in just the right way.  I had to practice with the boat on the trailer sitting in my driveway.  Now I its OK

Called. No new door. Said I would have to send in both units. Gave me an RA# and said send them in at the end of the season.

I called HB Customer Service and explained the problem.  They are sending me a new door in the mail today.  This could be the New and Improved Door or it could be exactly what I have.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

Please post the results. It bugs me to no end how you can get different answers to the same question.

I received my NEW door for the card slot on my 999 today.  It appears to be identical to the old door including the part number molded on the inside.  Installed the NEW door and had the same problem with the card on the right hand side dislodging when securing the door.  I spent a little dedicated time working with it and can now get the door closed pretty easily without dislodging the card.  I do not believe they have reworked the door at all.  I think it just takes some working with it to figure out how to gently position the thing for it to close properly.  As I examined it more closely I believe the issue is the right card slot is not as deep as the left slot therefore the card protrudes a bit more.

I have read that it's possible to use the door to insert the SD Card fully into the slot ...

Start with the SD Card partially inserted into the card slot ...

Then while watching a chart view ... Close the card slot door ...

If the "Loading Charts" popup appears at the top of the chart view = the SD Card has fully engaged ...
