Navigating a Track/Route While Running
« on: June 15, 2013, 08:20:41 AM »
Greetings,

I have the 788ci. What I want to be able to do is navigate the boat along a line (track/route depending on whether you are speaking Garmin or Humminbird) in a salt marsh creek so I stay in the channel. The line was created with a Garmin GPS. On the Garmin GPS we are able to record a track, save it and then can navigate back along that track while running. Humminbird does not seem to be able to do this. I pulled in the data from the Garmin into Humminbird and it shows up as a breadcrumb track with no ability to navigate it. From what I have read in the manual and online, it seems that I need to create a bunch of way points along this breadcrumb track to be able to navigate it. Is this correct? Or is there another way to have humminbird navigate the boat along an existing route or breadcrumb track?

Thank you,
DuBose

No.  You just need to edit the track on your unit and change its characteristics.  You can change it to a bold line and choice a color.

Hit menu twice and select the Navigation Tab.
Select Waypoints, Routes and Tracks
Find, select your Track(you can also use Sort By if needed to help) and select Edit.
Then edit the track characteristics.

I find tracks easier for running navigation than routes.

Note:  If you Restore Defaults you will lose your edits, but you can reedit(Bummer).

Thank you so so much! This saved me so much time! I really appreciate your time in responding. I have looked and looked for this feature and just never was lucky enough to figure it out.

Thank you,

You can also set Saved Track Default characteristics before you load a number of tracks.  Then they all will have those characteristics.
