Depth logging problem
« on: April 29, 2013, 01:28:24 PM »
I've got a problem on both a 998 SI and a 1198 SI with the depth logging.

I cant really figure out when the units are logging depth into the HT-files or not. Sometimes they do and sometimes they dont. In those cases all depth values are zero. (The tracks are still there but the depth is always zero).
First I thought that it has to be a blank SD-card inserted, but lately the 1198 failed to log depth eventhough there was a SD card there. Next power up it was logging again.
Anyone that can help me by describe what the criterias are for it to log depth data in the tracks?

Using latest firmware on the 1198 and about a year old firmware on the 998.
I also sometimes use an old 997 with 5 years old firmware. That one always log depth data.

When you start a Track that you want the water depth recorded in you have to start a new Track by selecting to “Clear Current track” first.  When the Track is complete, make sure that you “Save Current Track” before shutting the unit off.  If you shut the unit off it will not record the water depth for each trackpoint when you save and export that Track.  So just make sure that you manually start and stop the Track by doing these two things.

Thanks for the quick reply, Greg! Appreciate it.
But that function leaves a bit more to wish for. If you have a wish-list for your developers, please put this wish there.
One really shouldnt have to bother about that. I want it to always store depth information in the tracks. Everything else is very wrong.
The other brands I've tried do, so I hope its not impossible here either.
