Navionics 2010 Hotmaps
« on: February 03, 2010, 09:47:34 AM »
I have just received Navionics 2010 Platinum Hotmaps S chip.

I purchased it getting ready to relocate to Oklahoma, I want to look at the lakes in the area.  I am using NavPlanner and my 1197 NVB to look at this chip.

This is the first chip and my disappointment is that the chip cost $199+ and what you get is the chip without and documentation no user manual.

On the little paperwork there is it says to register the product for updates.  So far I have not found a place to register this chip.  I do not understand Navionics customer service.

I would like to spend time learning how to get the most out of this chip before I relocate.  So far I have found that NavPlanner covers a very limited amount of the nav chip, playing with it on the 1197 is better but still misses a lot.

If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate your guidience.

George

Thanks rnvinc

Yes I have downloaded everything I could find on you tube and have reviewed them, but they don't cover a lot of stuff.  I would expect that Navionics to have some information.  I am really surprised that they do not have a users manual.

Here is one that came with the 997c Navionics Platinum, but is pretty much the same for the 1197c.

Thanks Robert,

After I reviewed the downloaded file I remembered seeing something similar so I opened the original box my 1197c and I found a copy.  My copy is for the 1197 it was produced in 2008.

If you want I can make a pdf of it and send it to you.  There are some minor differences.

This does help, I will never understand why Navionics or other companies do not think their customers need documentation on their products.

Personally I think Navionics needs a good dose of competition, they could use a little humility.

They have a good product, but could have done some things to help their customers such as copy protection so that their card will not self destruct.

They could post the changes each year so that we would know if they made improvements on the lakes we fish.

There should a direct comparison between the Hotmaps and Hotmaps premium, this way we could compare the lakes we fish on both to determine which card to purchase.

It is a shame that they do not have the same customer service as Humminbird.

Not complaining but I use to write manuals and made continuous updates on changes for our customers.  All companies document changes as they go and this is on their computers and is not that difficult to post unless you want to keep your customers in the dark to sell more product.
