998 y-cable & transducer question
« on: January 22, 2013, 07:35:09 PM »
hey guys, so i had a post on here in regards to losing my depth at higher speeds on my boat. Basically once i get on plane, i lose my depth. My plan is to play with transducer location, tilt, and position first. Then, if need be i'll buy another ducer to enable me to have depth at higher speeds. So, i called hummingbird today and asked questions about ducer location and shoot through hull ducers. The kind lady responded that i would need to purchase a XP 9 20T (temperature) transducer and cable as-si-db-y. I can not find this cable on their website. The unit i have is a new 998 HD SI with the transducer that comes with it. so, what cable do i need if i go with the shoot through transducer? is this the correct transducer and cable that she told me? thanks guys, hopefully before too long i'll be able to post with some helpful suggestions instead of all these questions before too long

You will need the XP-9-20 and AS-SIDB-Y. You don't need the transducer with the temperature probe. The SI transducer will have the temp probe and the splitter cable will get the the temp from the SI transducer and not the 2d transducer.

thanks man, i'll update if i can get my transducer that i have now to work first. If not, i'll go ahead with the shoot thru. I have currently moved my ducer up a bit to get it out of the turbulent water, and repositioned it a little. I'll let yall know how it turns out. Thanks again.
