Wow,
that shows some differences!
I think one of the next investments I'll do is getting the 50 channel receiver for my 981. The GARMINs I use are a bit too slow for my feeling.

Best wishes

I just got a ASGR HA, but havent put it in yet.

Looks like the 50 channel is very consistent. Seems odd that the HA, would have those "star legs" outside of the core.
Hate to see her go, but love to watch her leave.

Reddog

It is interesting that you mentioned the star on the ASGR HA GPS Receiver, I have observed the same thing (long tracking points) on both the ASGR 50 and the ASGR HA GPS receivers.  Both have relatively tight tracking but occasionally go off on a tangent, this is probably natural as the satellites move through the sky and natural interferences.

I would have to agree.  It could have been a loss of signal on one or two satelites or something similar.

Hi
Does anyone know how the accuracy changes over time. I mean, if the charts are showing the drift over e.g. a week, it is not a big deal (for me at least). But if it is drifting like that within an hour or less, then it is definitely something to take into consideration.

I think this was a comparison over 24 hours!

I do not think you can predict the time or frequency when the GPS signal takes a hike to some other place.  I have observed a radical change within a few hours of turning the unit on.  Saying this I am not concerned because I believe it corrects itself in minutes, we just need to be aware that the GPS can give a bad signal and not react too fast.

Hello,
in the Past (2D and GPS Echo) i didnt recognize better to say i didnt realize the poor accuracy. :'(
But since i am using Sideband with GPS combined i think i will appreciate every little more accuracy i can get. ;D

So, Question to all GR-HA Users:

Do you get more/new Informations about using the GR-HA instead of the GR50 in practice on the Water ?
Is it possible to get (perhaps, most of time ?) the promised accuracy of less than one meter ?

The Mounting Shaft,
was it metrical-iso so it was possible to use German Shaft/Pipes to mount on ?

Thanks.

Peter

I have noticed a tremendous decrease in the amount of variations in position.  IE, the position doesn't jump around as much and the aquisition time is much faster.  I cannot attest to the GR-50, but the GR-HA has been excellent.

YES, The AS-GRHA is much better than the normal GR50

I noticed mostly the same as Robert.
MUCH more sensitive than the Internal !
In my backyard i got no Signal while using the internal Receiver, but switching to the external GRHA, after a few seconds it found the first Sat, and after a short Time the GRHA has found 12 Sats ! This is amazing and incredible, but it´s true.
Very fast to get the First Time Fix !

In Practice on the first Run today:
i got no Position hoppings,
and also no Speed hoppings, the GPS shows 0,0km/h if the Boat stand still most of the time instead of showing 0,0-0,6 with the internal Receiver before,
most of time i got an Estimated Position Error of 1 Meter.(Could the Headunit display less than 1m ? ;D)
Only a few Minutes within a 3hour Trip i got 2m Est.Pos.Error
This is much better than using the Internal Receiver before.
The HDOP was in a good range too.

But i am confused because the HB Website 10 Days ago says that the GRHA has a Accuracy less than 1 Meter. (Like it was written on the description of the product enclosing in the package)
But Today the HB Website says eaxctly the Same Text like the GR50 "....fixes accurate within 2.5 meters..." as description for the GRHA
What happend there ? (Did they no longer trust their own information ?  ;D I think this was an Error on the Website/Shop)

So one thing i can say:
If you want faster and more accurately position info, just buy the AS-GR-HA.
Also you dont have to deal with the Placement of the Headunit in the Boat if you mount the GR-HA on the top of the Transducer rod.
You will always get the right Postion to your Sounder Informations, no matter where you place your Headunit in the Boat.

I hope you enjoy the GR-HA like i do.

I know this thread hasn't been active for a while, but I contacted Humminbird today on the phone about the AS-GRHA.  They told me that it will no longer be available and I would have to purchase the GR50 or find someone on line still selling this unit.

Yes, the AS-GRHA High Accuracy GPS reciever was discontinued by Humminbird for 2010.  As soon as they did this, everybody decided they wanted one and the stores sold out!  It would be a miracle if you find one!

Even the guys at Humminbird cant get them anymore, unless they stashed a few somewhere! ;D

Afraid we didn’t or at least I could find no one that will admit to it!
My Wife’s Nephew hemmed and hawed around too long and missed his opportunity to get a pair of the GRHA’s.  Wish we would bring them back…

I would think the AS GRP is comparable to the previous AS GR50 ...

I have no info that it's any better (or worse) as far as accuracy ...
